I caught the Royals winter caravan as it came through town yesterday and had a great time. I met former Royals pitcher Dennis Leonard and current Royals Billy Butler, David DeJesus, and Joey Gathright, along with broadcast personalities Fred White and Steve Sullivan (formerly of the Reds). I got my picture taken with Sluggerrr and I also got to speak with GM Dayton Moore for about 3 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and willing to give autographs and chat it up with fans. Dayton Moore talked to me for a bit about the continuing education program that he has instigated since coming to Kansas City, trying to education Royals players about the history and traditions of baseball and their franchise. I jokingly told him to give Neal Huntington of the Pirates some pointers.I am thinking about driving to Indianapolis (from Kansas) this weekend to catch the Reds caravan. Yes, I'm that big of a fan. I would really like to get a chance to meet and get autographs from Marty, Tom Browning, and Brandon Phillips. Heck, I may even shoot down to Louisville on Sunday for the southern leg of the caravan.
