Griffey joins 600 club

Ken Griffey Jr. hit the 600th homerun of his major league career tonight against Mark Hendrickson and the Florida Marlins. His family, including his father, was in attendance in Miami for the historic feat. I can't say anything bad about Junior. Despite a career plagued by injuries, he has always remained positive. He is a great humanitarian but chooses to conceal most of his charitable efforts. Ken Griffey Jr. is the greatest homerun hitter of my generation and he has hit every single one of them the right way. No one has ever questioned Griffey's power or accused him of using performance-enhancing drugs. It is the result of one of the sweetest swings to ever grace the game. Read Hal McCoy's coverage of the event.

I think Griffey's 600th should be marked with an asterisk to signify he hit 600 HR's without steroids.

What are the odds he hits #601 in Seattle?

The man is in some fine company. He'll likely surpass Sosa in the next month or two, putting in the top 5, and behind only 1 cheater.

Make that a double asterisk for Griffey Jr. No steroids. No corked bats.
