It looks like the Reds have finally decided to throw in the towel. They've designated catcher David Ross for assignment and called up Ryan Hanigan from Triple-A Louisville.
Homer Bailey has also been optioned down to Louisville. I'm not exactly sure what this does in the grand scheme of things. Homer has been horrible, we can all agree about that, but sending him back down to Louisville isn't going to help him at this point. Bailey has been atrocious in both Triple-A and the majors this season. This seems like a mental/confidence problem (something that sending him down, again, might worsen). Why not give him a shot at working it out in the bullpen?
Bill at Redleg Nation and Jeff at Redlegs Rundown put in their two cents on the Reds recent moves. Both are questioning why Ross was released instead of Paul Bako... yeah... why!? It must be another Dusty Baker loyalty thing. I'm sure he will be starting Corey Baderson in center tonight.
Today is my birthday so I'm gonna celebrate it with a day of baseball. I'll probably listen to the Pirates vs. Mets game on XM or MLB audio this afternoon and then I am going to a Toledo Mud Hens game tonight.
