The Pirates have made it official, 2008 will be the team's 16th consecutive losing season. The Buccos last season with a winning record was 1992 (I was 12 years old). After reading WHYGAVS post this morning, I just couldn't help but reminisce over the past 16 years. Since the Pirates haven't accomplished much, here's a short list of my personal "accomplishments" since 1992:
  1. Finished grade school
  2. Finished junior high
  3. Graduated from high school
  4. Drank beer while underage
  5. Grown body hair
  6. Got my driver's license
  7. Drank beer while of legal age
  8. Finished 10 years of college (post-graduate degrees)
  9. Became addicted to coffee
  10. Voted both Democrat and Republican
  11. Gotten married
  12. Resolved my issues with Sid Bream

Well... forget #12.

Bucs Dugout, Hyzdu Headquarters, and WHYGAVS have some great posts today, be sure to read them.

The Bucs...my favorite National League Team!
I almost missed the Breem slide! I was falling asleep when my daughter (now a Rays fan in Tampa but still keeps the Tribe #1) said, "Dad, wake up...this is the ballgame!"
The Tribe had "The Catch" in '54 by the Say Hey Kid, the "Home Run" by David Justice in game 6 in '95, "The Mesa" in the 9th inning and the "Hit" by Renteria in the 11th inning in game 7 of '97, and last year "The Stop Sign" by 3rd base coach Joel Skinner in game 7 of the '07 ALCS.
You can always look back on Bill Maseroski's "Shot" until things turn around!

Of course, who could ever forget "The Family" of '79?
What a great bunch of characters that made up that team, characters with character! Down 3 games to 1...I soooooo wanted them to beat the O's and that little rooster manager!
Chuck Tanner was a "Baseball God" back then. He has written some very good books since then.
