Two BCB favorites on Team USA roster

Two Blue Collar Baseball favorites will play outfield for Team USA during the 2009 World Baseball Classic: Curtis Granderson and Grady Sizemore. Both Grandy and Grady play the game the right way and will do a great job representing our country and the game of baseball. Here is the current Team USA roster.

Mark Teixeira will surely be booed in Baltimore now

Mark Teixeira will surely be booed by fans in his home city of Baltimore after what he said today during his Yankee introduction. Teixeira admitted that he was one of those guys - wearing a Yankee cap to Orioles games. In his press conference today, Teixeira said that when he went to Orioles games as a kid, he would wear a Yankee cap. What!? Don't admit to that. Say all the stuff that people say when they are introduced as a Yankee: talk about the honor of wearing pinstripes, the Yankee tradition, the commitment to winning, all of the great players who have worn a New York Yankee uniform... but don't say that you wore a Yankees baseball cap when going to games of your hometown Baltimore Orioles.

We all know that there are people like Teixeira everywhere - bandwagon Yankees fans. Whether they jumped on the bandwagon during the Mickey Mantle era, the early days of Jeter, or just think that the hat will help them pick up chicks, they're all the same. They're easy to see at opposing teams' stadiums when the Yankees come to town. I've see it in Kansas City. The only regular season games that the Royals regularly sell out are Yankees games.

Yankees fans that come to Baltimore are even more annoying than those who appear in KC a couple of times a year. I went to a Yanks vs. Orioles game at Camden Yards in 2005. Sure there are a fair number of Mark Teixeiras (hometown bandwagoners), however, you are more likely to get Yankee fans from New York. People like this.

As for other news... it looks like there are still a couple of people out there trying to cheat.

Milton Bradley signs with the Cubs. Bradley is a real piece of work - a loser. Then again, so are the Cubs.

I'm also happy to see that teams continue to stay away from Manny Ramirez. I'm sure that he will get signed somewhere and still make good money. It's just nice to see that people recognize that Ramirez is a quitter, a disgrace to the game, and an oozing cold sore to whatever club he plays on.

ESPN Classic has a nice thing going. They are showing a classic game every Monday night up until Opening Night. Last night was a 1990 Opening Day game between the Orioles and Royals in Kansas City. On January 19th, they're showing the seventh game of the 1992 NLCS... BREAM!
